The Easy Way

I wish there were a Cliff's Notes on Enlightenment.

It is actually very simple. All of the explanations are mearly to satisfy the curious mind and may be discarded once the mind is satisfied that it knows what to do and how to do it.

The way to become is to be now.

Stacey,
Try concentrating on learning how to live with your fears.
It's useless to gather these knowledge, understanding, and experience, if you don't even know how to feel your nerves and stay cool all the time.
Don't try to escape from stress, pain, and suffering. See if you can be yourself inspite of everything.

If you wrote it, what would it say?

I'm a big-mouth. But if you can have poise all the time, you have nothing to worry about. Nobody can
laugh at you if you stay cool. They know they can't hurt or control you. Nothing can really hurt or control you.
Like Helen you can go back home unscathe after the war is over.

Beard,
I sympathize with you. This Stacey is very hard to catch. She's always on the move.
She's probably doing her reading now.
Guess what? I tried listening to Clavell's Shogun since the weekend. I'm afraid it's more than fifty hours worth of listening, and I hate this British
ventriloquist with the funny accent reading it; he seemed to be very tensed. Hope I can keep it up.
Anyway, I already saw the film a long time ago; it's just the details I'm interested in. And the experiencing of the story as it is read.

I am not refering to this post
In general you seem to have an extremely sincere aproach, I see you make absolutely no attempt to impress any one. You don't really have to seek any enlightenment Stacey
Thanks for stopping by

Stacey,
Indeed all this talk about enlightenmnet is a sham and a shame. There is really no such thing as enlightenment!
Just keep up the blog. There are a lot more interesting things to talk about. Like music, stars, superstars, philosophy, science, mathematics, common sense, sex, success. Most of these people here
are quite interesting, funny, friendly, helpful, loving. They're
here just to keep you company, share things with you, laugh with you, make fun of you, and love you. Isn't that worth it!
Keep it up guys!

Stacey,
By the way, why don't you change the blog title from "Enlighten Me" to "Entertain Me"? This is real common sense! This is true spirituality. Being worldly without being arrogant. Just being yourself without all this talk about gods, guru, magic, yoga, zen, whatever. After all you are the world and there is no point in separating yourself from it. Let me entertain you, my pretty little child!

Being 58 does not mean I always talk semse, I go off my rocker too.
I sincerely apologise for sweeping generalisation.

" if you don't generalise you don't philosophise " - Oscar Wilde

This is why there are holes in every philosophy we have.

My dear Rauf,

I was not offended. I just wanted to let you know that I'm not the type of American that lots of foreigners think we are. There was no harm done in your statement. It was just your opinion and you are always entitled to your opinion! :) But, just for the books, I'm anti-war. Actually, look at it this way, whatever George Bush thinks or says, I usually take the opposite stance. :)

I enjoy reading your blog and I'm glad to have met you! :)

Stacey, what is your definition of "enlightenment"? Words are used in various ways by many people and I'm doing some research.

Rauf,
Indeed, why apologize? I think you made a good point and paid Stacey a nice compliment. I think the same way about her too.
Who needs enlightenment if we are all as kind and as friendly as Stacey?
Enlightenment could be the greatest or last delusion one must
throw away before one can become a true or real individual. I don't care what gurus, monks, or nuns say. They don't have the time and guts for us ordinary mortals. Blogs are not interesting enough for them.

Rauf,
Indeed, I agree with you. Why should I believe in achieving enlightenment?
We are light in the darkness. We are light unto ourselves. We are the light of the world!

Well I guess these people including me are trying to impress Stacey. Why shouldn't they? After all, Stacey is our muse and inspiration.
If they didn't try to win Stacey's confidence, why should they be here in the first place?
For one thing, this is the best blog in town. And we all consider it our home. Some generalization, I guess.

We love to make fun of Stacey
because we know she's got "broad
shoulders".
This is how I became "enlightened". People made fun of me until I couldn't take it no more. Suddenly, I realized
people really cared about me and accepted me as one of their own.
Believe it or not, I'm the most popular guy in our company.
Now, making fun of others is my favorite trick!

Dear castor,
I spend a lot of time in the tropical rain forest.
I have always maintained that we are not superior even to an ant.
Animals too don't hurt each other if it is not necessary. They mind their own business. They don't try to find a meaning of their existence. I am ashamed of being a conscious human. Each one of us is trying to prove the other wrong. My sweeping generalisation was shamefully rude. Truth has many sides, I arrogantly refuse to accept other sides of truth with my tunnel vision. I am trying to open my mind. sometimes truth comes with an expiry date stamped on it which confuses me and I get angry and direct my anger towards some body, in my case the Americans.
I am ashamed castor just ashamed. Its such a long road, I have still to learn so much, I am tired and exhasted and angry that a majority of good cannot stop the evil done by so few.
Thank you so much for your concern, I really appreciate it.

Stacy I am sorry I am using your space to express my feelings.

Pollux
yes,( I just say yes , I don't say 'yes that is true' ) At the most I can say I THINK you are right. you are the centre of the universe, it revolves around you.
The universe exists as long as you exist, as long as you are conscious. But we have to respect the other side, you may accept it or not, because we are not sure we are right. Happy are the people who are convinced beyond any doubt. Please believe me I am not sure of anything.

Rauf,
As a matter of fact, I've just been to another blog, one maintained by Dr. J. (I know very little about him.) There were things he wrote that corresponded to my own experiences and ideas.
Even the "free dance experience"
I had and talked about in the previous entry of this blog seemed
to be referred to in it. It was some awesome experience I myself find difficult to believe. I just watched myself dance all the time
aware of every movement my body makes without really directing it; it felt as if every cell and nerve in my body, from my toes to the top of my head was vibrating with the music, and I was doing the most impossible movements I could do, without effort and with ease. I felt completely liberated and peaceful at that time and after that. Even other people who watched me were amazed. It was like a freedom or liberation dance!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and feelings with us. We need this from time to time. We don't seem to have much of it.
If you are interested in reading it just click the link in the previous entry under Dr. J. I don't really believe in "group enlightenment" but maybe these thoughts might "enlighten" you a little bit.

Hi Stacey,

Im about to write a whole series of posts about this over the next few days on my blog.

I have been stewing over similar issues over the last week.
I think it might help if we get people here (if they are still reading this post) to define what enlightenment is.

rauf said...

dear Stacey
I am having my blog here in your space, please forgive me, The discussion is interesting.

Dear Castor
We all have and develop our own individual ways of liberation.
That keeps us alive, not the oxygen food or water. My paradise would suffocate you, We all have our own vision of paradise. I'll write about it in my blog in a couple of days, feeling guilty of using Stacey's space

I Wonder & Nondual,
(and all others interested), I decided to take a leap into beginning to address the question "What Is Enlightenment?" over on my blog site so as not to fill Stacey's up with my ramblings.

I join all of you in raising a toast to Stacey. She has a wonderful skill in encouraging comments and thoughtful insights out of her readers. I think I get too preachy at times... which it IS okay to express an opinion. But what I am trying to say is that Stacey just has this really cool way of eliciting comments, interest and participation. Here's to our good friend Stacey! Cheers!
